The Kildonan Fresh Food Swap was set up as part of the Moreland Food Access Project, an initiative that aims to address the complex factors that contribute to food insecurity in Moreland.
The swap is open to anybody who grows their own fresh produce. The purpose of the swap is for community members to get together and swap their own produce for something they do not grow. No money changes hands, making it a very cost-effective way for people to obtain fresh and very affordable fruit and vegetables.
Not only is the swap an opportunity for people to obtain fruit and vegetables that they don’t grow, it is also an opportunity for people to connect with others in the community, a chance for social interaction.
The first swap is on November 7th, then the first Saturday of every month between 10am and 12 noon at the Kildonan UnitingCare, corner of Bell St & Sydney Rd (beside the Church), Coburg.
