HACC (Home and Community Care) Training Program

Quick Summary

The Northern Metropolitan Region HACC Training Program

This program is funded by the Victorian Government Department of Health to provide relevant, free training to all employees and volunteers of funded Home and Community Care Agencies and pension only Supported Residential Services in the Northern Metropolitan Region of greater Melbourne. This region includes the 7 local government areas of Hume, Nillumbik, Whittlesea, Darebin, Banyule, Moreland and Yarra.

MCHS is the fund holder for the Northern Metropolitan Region HACC Training Program and employs a HACC Training Coordinator to manage this Program.

The HACC Training Advisory Committee (TAC)

The work of the Northern HACC Training Coordinator and the use of HACC Training Program funds is overseen by a Training Advisory Committee made up of representatives from HACC funded Agencies in the Northern Metropolitan Region. This Committee meets bi-monthly and includes a Program and Service Adviser from the Department of Health.

Membership of the HACC TAC fluctuates from time to time due to the ordinary movement of staff between work places so if you would like to be a part of this committee please contact the HACC Training Coordinator at: hacctraining@mchs.org.au to discuss your interest and possible representation.

The HACC Training Calendar

The Northern Region HACC Training Calendar is produced and published bi-annually. The calendars cover the January to June 2013 and the July to December(2012) periods of each year.

An annual training needs analysis survey is usually conducted in September /October of each year and a general invitation is extended to all HACC service providers in the region to attend a training calendar planning forum in October/November of that year.

Training Registrations

A Northern Region HACC Training Registration Form is included in the HACC Training Calendar. This form is to be used for all Northern Region HACC training, including workshops offered by RDNS. A stand alone pdf fillable HACC Training Registration Form is also available here.

Registrations for training should be sent directly to the Trainer or Training Provider mentioned on each workshop flyer by fax (if a fax number provided) or by email.

Cancellation of registration for training

Whilst HACC training is free to eligible HACC workers, failure to attend training without proper notice may incur a fee. Click here to view the training fees and cancellation policy.

ASM Information for HACC Training Providers

The Victorian HACC Active Service Model (ASM) is a Victorian Government Department of Health quality improvement initiative that explicitly focuses on promoting person-centred care, capacity building and restorative care in service delivery. This initiative is now being implemented in Victorian Home and Community Care (HACC) programs, including the training provided for HACC funded agency staff and volunteers.

The Northern Metropolitan Region HACC Training Advisory Committee has endorsed an action plan to support HACC funded Agencies in the region to implement ASM via the regional HACC Training Program. This action plan will require the regional Training Coordinator to:

1. promote ASM principles
2. engage ASM trained/aware training providers
3. schedule training workshops which utilise ASM principles, whenever possible & relevant

Click here for further information about how this ASM action plan impacts on HACC training providers and the Northern HACC Training Program.
