Dietitians Information Sheet

 

Advice on all dietary needs from information on food choices to individual nutritional assessment.

Services are provided for:

  • Children from 3 months requiring advice or assistance with poor weight gain, weight issues, constipation, fussy eating, general eating tips and other issues
  • Adults requiring advice and assistance with diabetes, weight loss, high cholesterol and other issues.

The Home and Community Care Dietitian (HACC) provides a service specifically for those in the community who are frail aged or disabled, and also to their carers.

An interpreter can be organised if required.
MCHS dietitians offer individual consultations and group education programs such as the:

  • Diabetes Education Program
  • Weight Control Program
  • MEND – family healthy lifestyle program.

 

Eligibility

Referrals for dietitians can be made by individuals (self-referral), carers, health professionals including doctors and other service providers.

 

Fees

Session fees are $12.50 per session, $8 per session for Health Care Card and Pension Card holders.
