Specialist assessment and intervention services for children  with developmental problems.

The Child Health Team includes the following specialties:

 

Audiology

Audiologists are available to provide hearing assessments for infants and children in view of:

  • early detection of hearing loss
  • management of fluctuating conductive deafness
  • hearing vs. listening

 

Occupational Therapy

For children having difficulty with:

  • self care - dressing, bathing, toileting, eating
  • skills needed for playing - drawing, cutting, doing puzzles, catching balls, hopping, skipping, running
  • learning difficulties
  • school readiness- writing, concentrating & listening, and following instructions

Paediatrician

Special medical assessment for children with:

  • behavioural problems
  • learning difficulties
  • developmental issues

Please bring doctors referral and your Medicare card to see the paediatrician. This service is bulkbilled.

 

Child Psychology
 

For children who require:

  • Cognitive assessments

 

For parents who require assistance and advice on

  • Dealing with children’s behaviour and other parenting issues

 

Speech Pathology

For children and infants who:

  • are late starting to speak
  • are unclear in their speech
  • have difficulty in paying attention or understanding the spoken word
  • are stuttering
  • have voice difficulties

 

Dietetics

 

Eligibility

  • Occupational Therapy: 0 – school entry
  • Speech Pathology: 0 – school entry
  • Psychology – 0 – school entry
  • Paediatrician: 0-10 years
  • Audiology: 0 - 18 years

 

 

Operating times varies according to individual service. All workers are employed on a part time basis so waiting lists apply to all services. Please ring for advice or for clarification regarding availability of therapists.
