Katerina Angelopoulos, Chair
Katerina Angelopoulos’s involvement in community service spans a period of 25 years. She has been active member of the MCHS Board of Management since 2001. Prior to this she was a councillor with the Brunswick City Council; currently Katerina is on the Board of Directors with the Eye and Ear Hospital. Most recently appointed to the University of Notre Dame School of Medicine, External Advisory Board. Katerina is committed to improving the overall health and well being of the residents of Moreland and people who use the service. Katerina’s expertise extends to corporate management, health issues planning and human resources.
 
Margaret Burdeu
Margaret Burdeu is a resident of Moreland and has been involved with the Community Health Service for over 20 years and an active Board member since 2001. Margaret is currently General Manager of the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre and brings a breadth of knowledge including corporate governance, health policy, strategic planning, program development and risk management.
 
Genevieve Juj
Genevieve Juj is a resident of Moreland and has been a member of the MCHS Board of Management since 2006. Genevieve has an MA in Human Service Management, a BA in Social Policy and a BA in Social Work. Her skills and specialisations are in Executive Management positions in the Public Health area.
 
John Moran
John Moran has been a member of the MCHS Board of Management since 1998. John’s skills are in health services evaluation, health services reform, research management, budget and project management and he has post-graduate qualifications in Community Development. He specialises in mental health, youth mental health and health service development. John is currently the General Manager of ORYGEN Youth Health Research Centre.
 
Tony Helou
Tony Helou has been a member of the MCHS Board of Management for 22 years and has lived in the Moreland area for 32 years. Tony is a strong advocate of multiculturalism.
 
Michael Caputo
Michael Caputo has lived in the Brunswick area for much of the last 25 years. He has been involved in various capacities with a number local and international non-government organisations. He has been on the Board of the MCHS since 2004. Michael currently works in the Victorian Public Service.
 
Milad El-Halabi
Milad El-Halabi was appointed in 2007 as a member of the MCHS Board of Management. Milad has been involved in the Lebanese community and has been involved in many committees. Milad is currently involved in many Australian Arabic-speaking committees. Milad is also a member for the Australian Lebanese Association of Victoria and chair of the Board of Directors for the Coburg Market.

 

Meredith Carter
Meredith was appointed to the Board of Directors in October 2009.

A lawyer with over 20 years experience employed at senior levels across the private, public and not for profit sectors Meredith has a reputation for effective advocacy and campaigns promoting law reform and community participation in policy development. She has a correspondingly diverse background in community affairs, involved at senior levels in many community and public sector organisations and boards including a period as an honorary consultant to the Victorian Law Reform Commission. 

From 2004 to 2007 Meredith worked as a social policy advisor to Premier Bracks. This position followed a decade as Executive Director of policy think tank Health Issues Centre. Meredith led the research agenda, achieving significant funding for projects from diverse sources including the NHMRC. She published widely and was sought after as a media commentator and public speaker with a strong reputation for promoting consumer interests in health around Australia.
 

Stephen Duns
Stephen was appointed to the Board of Directors in October 2009. 
Stephen’s career experience includes several Chief Executive Officer and general management roles in health and community services in Australia and the UK.  He has also worked extensively as a consultant, primarily in the not-for-profit and government sectors.
Stephen’s recent voluntary interests include President of Joy 94.9, teaching business governance in developing countries with Australian Business Volunteers, Chair of Austin Health’s Human Research Ethics Committee, President and Chairman of the Board of Parkinson’s Victoria and Parkinson’s Australia and President of Cobaw Community Health Services.
