After Hours Service

The Commonwealth Carer Respite Centre Northern Metropolitan Region has a contract with WiN Support Services to provide a free service for carers needing to access short term personal care and in-home support in emergency situations occurring outside regular office hours (between 5pm and 9am, at weekends and on public holidays).

The service can be accessed directly by calling us on 1800 059 059 or 9495 2500 and following the prompts to be connected to the Emergency After Hours Service. The call will be answered initially by a paging service. An on-call Team Leader from WiN Support Services will then call you back and will discuss the most appropriate response to the situation. This could include providing immediate in-home support if needed.

The Emergency After Hours Respite Service can assist carers in times of emergency or crisis. An emergency is an unplanned situation that requires immediate action e.g.:

  • A carer being called away urgently without being able to make alternative care arrangements
  • A carer having been kept up for consecutive nights and urgently needing a break
  • A carer becoming seriously ill overnight or on a weekend and needing immediate in-home support for the person being cared for.
